Perudo, a table game played with dice, has been around for many centuries.
Emanating from Lima in Peru, it has always enjoyed great popularity in South America, and later in Spain, to where it was brought by the conquistadors. In recent years the game has made a highly successful transition to the online casino world over the internet, and is now being enjoyed by tens of thousands of new enthusiast, because of the games fast pace and combination of skill and strategies. With all these changes, the one thing that has remained constant is the format of a typical Perudo table.
The game begins with each player been issued with five dice and a cup, used for both mixing the dice and protecting the dice from the prying eyes of your opponents. They all play at a perudo table. One of the outstanding rituals of Perudo is when the players rattle and shuffle their dice in their leather cups, with great fanfare. The players then scrutinize their dice, often exaggerating the strength of their hand by body movements or smiles. This is where the whole element of the game kicks into play. For the whole strategy or Perudo, which is also and not surprisingly known as liars dice is to bluff and counter bluff.
The game continues by players announcing that they hold a particular dice combination, and their opponent calling out the word “Dudo” This literally means in Spanish “I doubt it” and it is the equivalent of a call in Poker or online Poker. Whoever loses the call forfeits one of their dice until the winner is the only player who has one or more dice remaining at the end of the game. The format of a typical Perudo table has seen this scene repeated countless times over the centuries, and is liable to continue for as long as people continue to be drawn to the game.
